National Citizen Service Initiiative
4th March 2011
A fantastic opportunity had arisen for Doncaster young people in school year 11 (Aged 15 & 16) to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) initiative. There are only 45 places for young people in this area based on a first come first served basis. The project is being coordinated by Doncaster’s Positive Futures team.
About NCSThis is a new and flagship Government initiative giving young people the chance to take part in a 7-8 week summer programme that is challenging, fun and develops skills and confidence. It involves young people working together in teams through ‘home and away’ residentials, full-time planning weeks and part-time social action, the aims set out for NCS are to promote a more cohesive society by mixing participants of different backgrounds, supporting the transition into adulthood for young people and develop a more engaged society by enabling young people to work together to create social action projects in their local communities.
