Spirit of the Community 2010 For Arksey, Bentley, Scawthorpe, and Toll Bar

Organised by Bentley Area Community Partnership (BACuP) in partnership with North Doncaster Development Trust (NDDT) and DMBC Neighbourhoods

These are the third annual “Spirit of the Community” awards celebrating the people who contribute so much to our communities, the unsung heroes, the people who are always striving to improve the community.

The closing date is 10th September 2010, with an Awards ceremony announcing the winners on Tuesday 19th October 6pm to 8pm at Bentley pavilion.

Categories:

Resident of the year

This category celebrates a resident who does something very special for others or for the Neighbourhood and displays the very best of ‘Doncaster Spirit’.

 Volunteer of the year

This category is to recognise those volunteers that contribute their time, skills, and experience to improve others and the community.

Community Group of the year

This is awarded to the group that has consistently contributed and made a difference in their community.

Staff member of the year

This award is to recognise paid members of staff that have significantly gone beyond their job role to positively contribute to the neighbourhood. 

Teacher of the year

This category recognizes all those teachers that positively contribute towards improving the lives of children and young people through educational, childcare, sporting or recreational activities. This could range from teachers, child carers, instructors, coaches, and mentors.

Young person of the year

This is awarded to a young person, up to the age of 19 years old, who has made a positive contribution to their community, is an example to their friends, may have excelled academically, in sport or has successfully faced personal challenges.

Business of the Year

This award is presented to a business who has continually strived to make their local environment better, or has dealt with the causes or effects of crime and anti-social behaviour in their community. They should have achieved significant, lasting improvements and encouraged their community to take PRIDE in their neighbourhood.

The winner of each category will be submitted to the Borough wide “Discover the Spirit” awards as this areas nomination.
