Course Details: Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) This model requires the learner to attend a one day induction to the programme. The learner will then complete pre workshop activities including observation and peer support, followed by a one day workshop. Post workshop activity consists of reflection and portfolio building.
The Diploma for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector is the qualification that recognises your experience and expertise. In Touch Care have successfully trialled a blended learning approach to DTLLS, supported by East Midlands Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (EMCETT). It is designed to give teachers the theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and understanding to work independently to achieve this qualification. You will have the support of your peers, teacher/assessor and super-mentor through REfLECT and facilitated workshops.
The DTLLS programme takes place over 18 months and learners will be expected to attend, in full, 12.5 days of workshops. The programme has been designed in themed modules that are supported by first class resources and selected research materials. Each module consists of an individual learning plan, with opportunity for APEL, pre workshop activities to be shared with your tutor/assessor and peers, followed by workshop attendance and post workshop activities on a one to one basis with the teacher/assessor. Each module/theme has its own specialist Teacher/Assessor. All learners have a super-mentor who will support the learner through the DTLLS programme and assists the learner in ‘joining up’ the programme themes.
Currently full funding for this course can be applied for through Student Finance England. Details of how to apply will be given to successful candidates. To be accepted on the PTLLS/DTLLS programme, learners will need to have access to an internet enabled computer (ideally broadband) and have an Institute for Learning account.
