The Bentley Bonanza

3rd July 2008

Due to last years sloppy summer the annual event in Bentley Park had to be cancelled. Last Sundays Bentley Bonanza ‘One Year on’ was extra special. Congratulations to organisers Bentley Area Community Partnership (Bacup) working in partnership with the Neighbourhood team, supported by North Doncaster Development Trust (NDDT), for delivering a successful event.

The event was opened by Miss Doncaster 2008 who gave a run down of the fun filled array of activities. People came from far and wide to see our star attraction ‘The White Helmet Motor Display Team’ who started with a colossal roar and ended with champion cheers.

The atmosphere in the park was on fire, with singing and dancing acts throughout the day. Families strolled round the park taking part in the tombola stalls and bagging bargains on the table top sales as the aromas of Bacup BBQ tickled their taste buds. Masses of people attended the event including Steve Sherratt, Project Manger at North Doncaster Development Trust, commented on the event “It is so good to see so many people enjoying themselves and getting together in Bentley Park!”

The weather was glorious all morning, but as more and more grey clouds grew, we knew we were going to get wet, and sure enough the heavens eventually opened but this did not dampen people’s spirits as they moved into the Pavilion to be entertained by a live orchestra.

This annual event raises money to put on the Bentley Bonanza every year to give our community an opportunity to all get together and have fun.

So if you missed out this year keep your ear to the ground next year we will be back!
