North Area Funding Advice Officer

This year long project was jointly funded by NDDT and DMBC to provide a dedicated North Area Funding Advice Officer, to support statutory, voluntary and community groups in identifying and obtaining funding, came to an end on 31st August 2011.

The North Area Funding Advice Officer Martin Kendall, hosted one-to-one support sessions as well as drop-in funding advice surgeries across North Doncaster which helped groups to find and access funding opportunities that benefited their area.

  • Over 80 local community groups accessed funding support ranging from the Women’s Institutes to Miners Welfares.
  • 9 groups bid for overfunds totaling over £350,000
  • 21 groups are still preparing bids for over half a million pounds after receiving support
  • 8 groups received small pots of funding totaling at £4000

“The main piece of advice I can pass on to you is that if you’re new to applying for funding, start applying to small grant providers like NDDT Micro Grants, Award for All, or South Yorkshire Community Foundation, as this will help to build your confidence.

But don’t be afraid to take the leap and apply to the bigger funding providers e.g. The Big Lottery, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, or Landfill Tax.” - Martin Kendall

NDDT can continue to conduct funding searches for local groups in North Doncaster, using Grantfinder - the UK’s leading grants and funding search database.  To register your interest in receiving a free search, email NDDT at info@northdoncaster.org.uk. Please include in your email; an estimated value and brief description of your project, an outline of what your group does and how your project would benefit North Doncaster, and we will see if this search would be suitable for you.  After a search has been made we will email you the results but we are unable to advice which grants to go for.  Searches may take a little longer than before but will provide a good starting point.  Also, if NDDT can’t help you we will direct you to other possible sources of assistance.
