First Steps 2 Fitness Session - Askern
10th September 2010
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to take your First Steps 2 Fitness. The free mobile gym opened at Askern’s ‘Alexander House’ on the 19th July 2010 and will be based there for 12 weeks! The gym is for anyone over 16 years old in the Greater Askern area, to help the people who exercise less than 30 minutes a week to get active!
It’s simple to access; all you have to do to get started is just drop in to one of the organised sessions. There you will meet your professional trainer who will help you develop an action plan, to help you achieve your fitness goals. Once you have started you can attend as many sessions as you wish. Bring your friends along and have fun getting fitter together.

This project is delivered by North Doncaster Development Trust (NDDT) a local charity committed to improving the quality of life in our communities, and funded by the Enhanced Public Health Programme which is a part of Doncaster NHS, promoting health and wellbeing in our communities.
The gym has already been in Toll Bar for 12 weeks and has helped over 15 people get active, exercising on a regular basis.
28 year old Melissa Higgins of Toll Bar says: “I used to go to the gym years ago but with having a family it was hard to find the time. The ‘First Steps 2 Fitness’ gym has a relaxed atmosphere and is not as daunting as joining a fitness club.
I have lost weight and got fitter as a result of going. A group of us are going to start going to Adwick gym now the mobile gym has moved on.”
After 12 weeks in Askern, the gym will move to Carcroft, and then Woodlands.
