Brighter Futures Project
The Brighter Futures project has continued to help and support incapacity benefit claimants over the past year, take the steps needed to improve their lifestyle and ultimately move into employment. The project has supported some of the most vulnerable people in our community and has linked them into support systems. NDDT, as part of a consortium of providers which includes Doncaster Dial, Doncaster Mind, Danum Credit Union, Sycil, Doncaster and the Volunteer Centre, has contracted through Doncaster CVS to deliver the programme to tackle the issue of worklessness. In the past year, two new workers have been employed, a Support Worker and Engagement Assistant. The project has also benefited from the employment of a Community Motivator, working directly with the local community. A number of successful awareness raising events have been organised and attended in partnership with Job Centre Plus. Over 100 incapacity benefit claimants attended an event at Askern Miners Welfare and were able to access a variety of support and information.
